Important notice of new policy approved by the RARO Board of Supervisors

At the October 2008 meeting of the RARO Board of Directors, the Board approved the following dates to review requests from parents regarding waiver of age requirements for youngsters in our programs:

The Board will review age waiver requests for Winter Sports, including all basketball programs at the November meeting.

The Board will review age waiver requests for Spring/Summer Sports at the March meeting. This includes baseball/softball programs not sanctioned under a national program. Those sanctioned programs, including Babe Ruth Baseball for all ages, Cal Ripken and Minor League, and Girls Babe Ruth Softball do not fall under Board jurisdiction in terms of age waiver. No local exceptions can be made for these leagues under national charter guidelines. This also applies to the Hershey Hall of Fame Track and Field Games, also sanctioned nationally.

The Board will review age waiver requests for Fall Sports, including all football and soccer programs at the August meeting.

The above meetings are the only times the Board will consider age waivers for each season. The Board regularly meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Community Meeting Room at Lexington City Hall. Normally, the Board does not meet in July. On rare occasions, the Board meets at alternate locations. If you are planning to attend a meeting to request consideration for age waiver, please call the RARO offices at 463-9525 to confirm site and be placed on the agenda. Please feel free to call the office with any questions regarding this policy.

Ages for determining RARO age eligibility are determined as of October 1 of the current year.
